Nancy Bricard is Professor Emerita and former Chair of the Keyboard Studies Department at the University of Southern California/Thornton School of Music. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at USC where she studied with Lillian Steuber and John Crown. She then studied for six years with Marcel Ciampi, a Professor at the National Conservatory in Paris, which greatly enhanced her unique understanding and love for French piano music.
She has achieved notable recognition in both Europe and North America for her artistry in performances as a recitalist and soloist with major symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles. She has taught in international symposia, chamber music workshops and master classes. She is a frequent lecturer and essayist on the French keyboard repertoire, the French School of piano technique, and the psychological problems of performing musicians. Her edited performance editions of major piano works, released by Alfred Publishers include: Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit (1990); Ravel’s Miroirs (1993); Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin (1997); Moussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (2002); and Selected Piano Works of Gabriel Fauré, dedicated to the late Malcolm Hamilton (2007).
